I worked as Visiting Post Doctoral Fellow at Centre for Surface Chemistry and Catalysis, K. U. Leuven, Belgium from 29 th July, 2007 to 3 rd August, 2008. Along with Prof. R. A. Schoonheydt, Department of Microbial and Molecular Systems, K.U. Leuven and Prof. A. Volodin, Department of Physics, K.U. Leuven, the morphology and spectroscopic behaviour of some fluorescent organic laser dyes and elementary clay particles (laponite) assembled onto organo-clay hybrid LB films have been done and tried to quantify fluorescence resonance energy transfer between organic dyes in presence and absence of clay platelets (a manuscript have been communicated to Langmuir for publication based on the result of the work). Mechanical properties of hybrid films of clay minerals by Force Deflection Spectroscopy (FDS) and Acoustic Atomic Force Microscopy (AAFM) have been done. We measured the mechanical properties of single clay particle, as far as the database available the mechanical property of individual elementary nano-dimensional clay platelet has never been reported earlier (The results have been communicated to Nature Materials, for publication). |
